#2 Workshop "COLOR"

Color and Value

Lynne Weeks, Instructor

Maximum Enrollment: 20
10:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Location: Springhill Baptist Church Activity Center (On McGregor near Old Shell Road…across the street
from Moore branch of Mobile Public Library and Springhill Baptist Church)

Ever look at your painting and feel something is not quite right but be unable to decide how to finish or
change it?? This workshop will include not only color and value exercises but also applying the five color
combination principles which will enable ANY artist using ANY medium to successfully produce a
harmonious work and successfully critique his/her own work regarding hue, value and harmony, and
contrast... We will use color hues from nature and also thoroughly explore the system for neutralizing the
intensity of the color to produce effective shadows and assist in modeling shapes.

Please bring the following supplies to the workshop:
• Watercolor paints - cadmium red, thalo or french ultramarine blue and a yellow-such as new
gamboge or whatever one might have that is similar.
• Brush – The bigger the better!
• 1 sheet of watercolor paper
• Pencil, eraser, drawing paper
• Other supplies (water container, paper towels, etc…)
